This activity is guaranteed to encourage a fresh perspective on jazzy rhythms, and it’s a perfect introduction to improvisation and allowing students to create their own unique interpretation.
Melodic ornamentation step-by-step
This book includes TWO pages of melodic ornaments, introduced with clear visuals using phrases from familiar Christmas songs.
Students will learn about:
- grace notes
- appogiaturas
- passing notes
- neighbour notes
- slides
The learning activities are followed by the song Silent Night, presented as two versions:
- a lead sheet with written ornaments for students to apply
- a lead sheet with blank sections for students to choose, write, and sing their own ornaments

An ideal resource for church groups and teachers
This collection of 12 Songs of Praise and Worship for Young Singers features beautiful, original compositions by Canadian composer Linda Fletcher. It includes:
